As of October 2024, GUM Learning has donated $32,500 to all levels of charities that help children and youth (We update the donation data every 6 months).
In terms of why GUM chose these charities, founder Alice Shen stated as follows,
"GUM started as an unsuspecting personal project during the days of COVID-19 before we found peace in solitude as many had to.
No matter what, there is one constant that applies to everything we do: the youth. It may not have started as an organization for education, but we’ve adapted to fit the needs of our users. Hundreds of students find GUM to be a place where they can connect with not a teacher but their peers in order to get assistance with whatever they might need on a “can-pay” basis. With tutoring culture on the rise, students get left behind, but we are a small part in ensuring that this happens to less and less individuals.
